The Government will introduce legislation on Wednesday to ensure the Covid-19 vaccination programme can continue, after a High Court decision called into question the legislation under which the vaccine was approved.
The legal snafu has shone a light on the legislation governing New Zealand’s medicines approvals.
The Government promises to reform this part of law through its Therapeutic Products Bill, which will be introduced later this year.
But ACT leader David Seymour said now’s a good time to think about reforming the laws around medicine approvals to make sure Kiwis aren’t waiting longer than they should be for medicines.
